As you are aware, Kanpur Smart City Ltd., is promoting the city in the sports world at the state level, is now preparing a “Modern Convention Centre” in Chuniganj area to gain fame in the field of Art, Culture, Trade and Industry and directly benefit it to the general public, Children, Artists, Traders and Industry Captives.

This is Kanpur’s iconic project, which will be the “Central Activity Hub” to promote art, culture, trade and industry in Kanpur city and region.

Today Divisional Commissioner / Chairman Kanpur Smart City Limited along with Municipal Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer and Nodal officer, KSCL visited the site of the ongoing modern convention centre at Chunni Ganj and reviewed the work progress.

The comments of inspection, features of the project and instructions given by the commissioner are as follows :-

* The total cost of this project is 80 crores. It is being developed in two phases, the work of 67.41 crore for the first phase is for the construction of multi-storey building in which –

1) Seating capacity state-of-the-art Auditorium
2) 16000 square feet Exhibition Hall,
3) 12000 square feet Exhibition Hall,
4) 300 seating capacity Conference Room,
5) 3 numbers – 100 capacity Meeting Room
6) 6 Guest rooms, 2 Suite Guest rooms
7) 8000 square foot Food Court
8) Covered parking of 68 vehicles
9) 8 professional shops
10) Business center
11) Restaurant etc. facility will be available.

* The main features of the building are as follows:-

A. The building is designed as a green building.
B. The Sewage treatment plant (STP) is included in the building.
C. The entire building with Solar panels mounted on the roof will be energy efficient, providing basic lighting.
D. The entire facility will be air-conditioned, with eight elevators and four escalators for convenient transit in a two-and-a-half-story structure.

EPC Mode developer MHPL India has prepared a theme-based design for this project. The building will have a lotus flower theme. The Divisional Commissioner informed that the lotus blossoms beautifully after being born in the mud and is a source of inspiration for the design, which has been prepared with hard work to make the building internationally renowned.

* At present the physical progress of the project is 60% and the financial progress is 50%.

* For the speedy completion of this project, work is being done on war footing at the site and work is going on day and night in 2 shifts.

* According to the contract, the project is to be completed by the month of December, 2023. The Divisional Commissioner directed the Municipal Commissioner / Chief Executive Officer to complete it 4 months before the prescribed period by the working body by August 15, 2023, so that the completion of 75 years of independence can be dedicated to the common man and the benefit of the townspeople can be obtained.

* For this, the Divisional Commissioner asked the Chief Executive Officer, Kanpur Smart city to invite the tender for the works of Phase 2 of the project within a week, so that the work of Phase I of the project can be completed soon and the work of Phase II can also be prepared by August 15, 2023 and there is no unnecessary delay from the work of Phase 2. The Nodal officer assured the Commissioner that the project would be completed on schedule.

* To check the monthly progress and third party quality of this project, the committee of Joint Director- U. P. State Setu Corporation and Executive Engineer, constituted by the Divisional Commissioner under the Chairmanship of Professor- HBTU, had jointly reviewed it twice in the past and sent its satisfactory report to the Kanpur Smart City office.

* The Convention Centre is a prestigious project of Kanpur, so its successful operation and maintenance (O & M) is proposed to be done by the operator. For this, it would be appropriate that the team of Kanpur Smart City ltd. along with the concerned officials should visit such projects in the country on the lines of O&M by 15th February, 2023 to get inputs and ensure necessary action.

* For better maintenance and quality operation, this convention centre will be operated on PPP model, for which the Municipal Commissioner has been directed to call the team of I.I.M., Indore, Kanpur and prepare the necessary action plan for the successful operation of the project.

* Smart road is being developed under the smart road project around the Convention Centre, under which anti-skit Granite is being installed on the pavement and electric poles are being shifted. The Divisional Commissioner asked the Executive Engineer, KESKO, Shri Arun Kumar to coordinate with the smart road developer and take necessary action for this.
Monthly terrestrial tour of this project will be conducted by Commissioner/Chairman Kanpur Smart city.
