1. The 80th Independence Day celebrations this year will highlight Yuva Shakti and the contribution of young India towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, along with the commemoration of 150 years of the National Song, Vande Mataram. Briefing media in New Delhi, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said, the celebrations will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the historic Red Fort.

2. The Parliament has passed the Bankers’ Books Evidence Bill, 2026, with the Rajya Sabha approving it yesterday. Lok Sabha has already passed the Bill. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman moved the Bill, which aims to modernise the legal framework to meet the requirements of the present banking system.

3. The Lok Sabha passed the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026, in New Delhi on 10 August 2026 during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The Bill proposes an independent National Tribunals Commission to oversee the selection, performance, and administration of national tribunals.

4. On the occasion of World Lion Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday said that India scripted successful conservation journey from 523 lions to 891 in last 10 years.

5. In Manipur, thousands of bikers joined a bike rally organised at Imphal as part of the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign aimed at promoting national pride and unity.

6. In Bihar, under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, a grand Tiranga Yatra was organised yesterday in the capital, Patna. Led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary,

7. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has unveiled a special Metro train wrapped with the Har Ghar Tiranga theme on the Yellow Line to celebrate the spirit of independence.

Rural women in Udhampur district are taking significant strides toward economic empowerment through the Samarth Scheme, as a month-long wool processing and handloom training programme is helping them acquire valuable skills for sustainable livelihoods. Organised by the Sheep Husbandry Department, the training programme has brought together 30 rural women.

9. The Indian Ports Association extends five crore in assistance for Assam flood relief.

10. The Government has notified eleven more International Ports, enabling E-visa holder foreigners to enter India. The Home Ministry said that it includes nine land ports and two airports. This includes airports at Bhopal and Tirupati, and land ports at Attari and Agartala.

11. The government has extended the tenure of the Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Rahul Navin, by one year from the 13th of this month to the 13th of August next year.

12. Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has called for enhancing private sector participation in India’s Biotechnology ecosystem to strengthen industry outreach to promote indigenous products and technologies in biotechnology and life sciences.

13. Prakriti Gyan Dham is a new eco-educational center based in Lucknow, which intends to integrate scientific research, biodiversity conservation, and environmental education with society. This educational institution has been inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has launched the major technology and cybersecurity initiative which is aimed at to modernize the Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) all over India. At the ‘Sahkar Nav-Kranti’ programme in Mumbai, Union Minister Amit Shah has inaugurated the new premises of the National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) and launched ‘Bank in a Box’. It is an integrated technology platform which offers core banking, digital payments, cloud infrastructure and regulatory compliance solutions.

15. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange colour warning for Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan for heavy to very heavy rainfall today. Heavy rainfall at isolated places going to prevail over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh and West Rajasthan.

1. Tension prevailed in Ranchi today during the students’ Vidhan Sabha gherao protest over alleged irregularities recruitment examinations in Jharkhand. Former JPSC Chairman L. Khiangte has also been arrested.

2. Amid ongoing student protests, three serving members of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) have resigned from their posts. JPSC members Ajita Bhattacharya, Jameel Ahmed and Anima Hansda submitted their resignations to Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar.

3. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that the government is ready for a detailed debate and reply on the issue related to the students’ protests.

4. Delhi Police have busted an organised cyber fraud network and arrested nine people in connection with a series of cybercrime cases. The accused were operating from Meerut, Ghaziabad and Jaipur.

1. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan is on a four-day official visit to Mauritius.

2. The Indian Navy-US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Exercise 2026 will be conducted at Southern Naval Command, Kochi, till the 14th of this month. The Defence Ministry said the bilateral exercise aims to enhance interoperability and strengthen professional cooperation between the specialist diving and EOD teams of the two navies.

3. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has revived the Su-30MKI production line at its Nashik facility in Maharashtra. The plan covers 12 new Su-30MKI fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force, with deliveries scheduled up to 2029 and the first aircraft expected in 2027–2028.

The Su-30MKI is a twin-engine, multirole fighter aircraft used by the Indian Air Force. The aircraft was developed under a licence-production arrangement with Russia, and HAL has assembled the type in India for operational service

1. Russia has proposed exploring a railway route to the Indian Ocean and India to reduce dependence on strategically important maritime routes. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said alternative routes could help address risks associated with the two strategic waterways including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bosphorus Strait.

2. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever export of 1 Metric Tonne of Mustard Honey by Dergang Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) from Tripura to Dubai. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the export marks a significant milestone for the FPO and local beekeepers by creating an opportunity to access international markets through organised and export-oriented production.
