😳 *WHY?* ❓❓
*Why is United Nations Day observed on 24 October?*
The Charter of the United Nations was signed in San Francisco on 26 June 1945 and came into force on 24 October 1945, after it was ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the UK, the US and a majority of the other signatories — the day the UN officially came into being.
In 1947 the UN General Assembly declared 24 October as United Nations Day to make the UN’s aims and achievements known around the world. India is one of the UN’s founding members.

🤔 *HOW IT WORKS?*
How does a cyclone get its name? 🌀
* In the North Indian Ocean, the India Meteorological Department (RSMC New Delhi) names a storm once it intensifies into a cyclonic storm, with sustained winds of at least 34 knots (about 63 km/h).
* Names come from a list adopted in 2020, with 13 names each from 13 member countries of the WMO/ESCAP Panel on Tropical Cyclones — 169 names in all.
* The names are used one after another in a fixed order, and a name once used is not repeated.
* Short, simple names help warnings reach people quickly and avoid confusion when more than one storm is active.
* The cyclone expected to hit the north Andhra Pradesh coast will be named ‘Arnab’, meaning ‘ocean’ in Bengali — a name contributed by Bangladesh.
