1. Snowfall in hilly areas and rain in plain areas of North-West India will continue for the next two days.

2. PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 11,000 crores in Guwahati, Assam. The key focus areas in Guwahati include projects to boost sports & medical infrastructure and connectivity.

3. Drawing attention to the guarantee of creating 2 crore LakhpatiDidi’s in the country, PM Narendra Modi informed that the number reached 1 crore last year and the target is now set at 3 crore Lakhpati Didi’s in this year’s budget.

4. Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakashi Lekhi flagged off ‘Shri Ramayan Yatra’, Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC tourist train from Safdarjung Railway Station.

The train will travel through all prominent places linked to Lord Ram’s life – #Ayodhya, Nandigram, Janakpur, Sitamarhi, Buxar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Shringverpur, Chitrakoot, Nashik, Hampi, Rameshwaram, Bhadrachalam and Nagpur.

5. The Uttarakhand Cabinet approved the draft of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The government will table and discuss the UCC Bill during the special Assembly session.

6. In Jharkhand : All preparations for the two-day Special session of the state Assembly have been put in place. First day of the session will be a litmus test for the new CM Champai Soren who will seek a trust vote in the house. PMLA Court has also allowed former Chief Minister Hemant Soren to vote during the floor test.

7. Union Home Minister AmitShah addresses the Valedictory Ceremony of CLEA-Commonwealth Attorneys & Solicitors General Conference (CAGSC-24), in Delhi.

14. India’s strides in space exploration take a significant leap as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) gears up for human spaceflight after its historic Moon mission last year. Private companies, such as Mumbai-based Astroborne Aerospace, are joining this space odyssey, and discussions are underway with the Maharashtra government to establish Asia’s premier private astronaut training facility on a 4-acre plot in Navi Mumbai.

15. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the Rajya Sabha that the Railway Ministry has identified 1,318 railway stations for the development/redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

3. The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) detects fake Input Tax Credit cases involving Rs 18,000 crore between April and December last year; Make 98 arrests.

4. Meghalaya begins crackdown on proxy teachers, the state government has directed all heads of schools to install the TIMS mobile attendance app and paste picture of teachers in the school notice board.

According to the State Education Mission Authority there have been cases in some schools where the appointed teachers have been engaging proxy teachers to perform the duties on their behalf, which is illegal and violation of the service rules.

5. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested an employee of the Indian Embassy in Moscow for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. He was arrested in Meerut. Satendra Siwal had been working in Moscow since 2021.

6. Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) Kerala president Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal on Sunday landed in a controversy over his recent statement that there is no need to protest against the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya as both the new temple and the proposed mosque would strengthen secularism in the country.

Deepfake menace refuses to end, with fake videos of Rashmika Mandanna and pictures of actresses like Katrina Kaif, Kajol, and even the likes of Sara Tendulkar being circulated online. The latest victim is actor Akshay Kumar.

1. Iran condemns US retaliation strike in Syria & Iraq.

The US military hit Tehran-backed groups in Iraq and Syria were a retaliation for a deadly attack on US troops in Jordan, which killed three US soldiers. A day after that, the US and the United Kingdom unleashed attacks on the Iran-aligned Houthis of Yemen late on Saturday in a joint action.

2. The World Health Organization’s cancer agency recently warned that the number of new cancer cases will rise to more than 35 million in 2050, which is 77 per cent higher than the figure in 2022. Tobacco, alcohol, obesity and air pollution are key factors in the estimated rise of cancer cases.

3. 14 soldiers of Myanmar’s paramilitary Border Guard Police (BGP) took refuge in the wee hours of Sunday in Bangladesh. The soldiers fled their posts to Cox’s Bazar region in Bangladesh amid reports of heavy gunfights between the government troops and the rebel resistance fighters in the junta-run country.

4. Namibian President Hage Geingob, (82), died at a hospital in the capital Windhoek.

Hage Geingob was receiving treatment at the hospital after being diagnosed with cancer in January. He had returned last Wednesday from a trip to the United States.

5. Russia has said that at least 28 people have been killed after Ukrainian forces shelled a bakery in the city of Lysychansk in the Russia-controlled eastern region of Luhansk.

6. The International Monetary Fund predicted China’s economic decline to continue over the next four years as Beijing continues to tackle a range of challenges, including a rapidly aging population, higher unemployment and a property crisis.

7. The Baloch Raj Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an alliance of several Baloch ‘pro-independence’ groups, claimed responsibility for 14 attacks on political party offices and personnel in different parts of Baluchistan.
