National Sugar Institute, Kanpur conducted one day National Seminar on “Safety Protocols in Sugar and Allied Industry wherein more than 100 participants actively participated from the sugar and allied industry. The seminar started with the traditional lighting of lamp and followed by Saraswati Vandana. Dr Seema Paroha, Director, NSI, greeted the chief guest and introduced the gathering about the chief guest of the event Dr Mayank Dwivedi, Outstanding Scientist and Director, DMSRDE, Kanpur, consequently she illustrated the safety measures importance possible specially adhering to numerous hazards from heavy machinery high temperature operations to combustible materials . Chief Guest addressed the gathering and sensitize about the safety of the human resource along with their physiological and mental health.
The lectures in the said event were amalgamation of Institute and Industry. Shri S Datta Choudhury, Deputy Director (Safety), Regional Labour Institute, Kanpur emphasized about the occupational safety and health in sugar industry wherein he covered the topics related to Factory Act 1948, identification of Hazards, Risk Matrix and how AI can be a game changer in the area of safety. Shri Datta along with Shri Vijay Dwivedi Sr. Scintific Asst., RLI. demonstrated about the CPR to the delegates. Shri Sanjay Chauhan, APSE delivered his talk on “Essential Safety Measures for Sugar Industries” covering topics like equipment safety to preventive measures to be taken care for Bioler Safety and Sugar Dust Explosion.
Shri Vinod Kumar Singh, Corporate Head (Safety), Balrampur Chini Mills Limited, enlightened the gathering about the “ Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment” wherein he pointed out the risk area and the impact of the hazardus material used in the plant and the precautions to be taken thereof further he also covered the certification from Petroleum and Explosive Safety organization. Shri Ramkant Laxminarayan Sharma briefed the gathering about the pshylogical safety at work place covered the topics related to ISO 45003 is a guideline standard for managing psychological health and safety at work, focusing on psychosocial risks and promoting well-being, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Saurabh Kr Dixit, GM Corporate, EHS, Bajaj Hindustan Sugar Limited talked about the Process Safety Managements and Acts. Further he also pin pointed about the various measures to reduce the hazards and accidents.
The seminar was concluded by the vote of thanks from Brajesh Singh, Co-convenor of the programme.
